Choose the right tab
On this page
The row of tabs under the logo is the main control on 4Search. Each tab is a different kind of search or a whole service of its own, and the words you typed travel with you when you switch.

#The row of tabs
On 4Search the row holds every tab. The row slides sideways when it is wider than the window.
- 1All: the tab you start on
- 2Services found only on some sites
- 3More tabs: tap the arrow or slide the row
- The tab you are on is underlined.
- Finance, Politics, Predictions, Weather and Maps are services that only some sites have.
- The arrow shows there is more to the right. Select it or slide the row.
A subject site has a shorter row, because it does not offer those five services.
A subject site such as 4Football shows a shorter row of tabs.
- 1All: the tab you start on
- 2Topics: this site's own subjects
- The home page always starts on All.
- Topics lists the subjects of that site, here football.
#What each tab does
#Search tabs
- AI Mode opens a conversation. You ask in plain language, it answers, and you can ask follow-ups. It names the sources it used and says it can make mistakes. A news column beside the chat shows related articles.
- All is the default. It shows web results and news results side by side, with an AI Overview above them when you allow AI answers. If your words clearly fit news, shopping or websites, 4Search may take you to that tab and tell you.
- Web puts web results first, with the news results beside them. Its web results come from Google's search service.
- News puts news articles first, with filters for date, match, length and sentiment. Each article has a Full coverage button.
- Websites is a directory. Each result is a site, with its topics, a Profile & articles button and a Visit button.
- Images and Videos show pictures and videos taken from indexed articles. Select one to open the article; a playable video plays in place, and the rest open the article.
- Topics helps you find the right subject. Type your words and it lists the topics that fit best, each with a button to search your words inside it. Without words it lists every area, which you can browse and follow.
#Service tabs
- Finance covers markets, quotes, charts, earnings and a watchlist.
- Politics covers Congress, bills, votes, elections and regulations.
- Predictions gathers what prediction markets expect, with the news behind each market.
- Weather gives forecasts for any ZIP code or city, radar, alerts and hurricanes.
- Maps searches places, plans routes and offers many map types.
- Shopping compares offers from many stores in one search on 4Search. On the other sites the tab shows shopping news and web results, with a link to run the search at a store.
#Common questions
Why do I not see Finance, Weather or Maps?
Those services run only on some sites, such as 4Search and 4Conservative. On other sites the tabs are not shown. See Which sites have which services.
What is the difference between All, Web and News?
All blends web and news results and adds the AI Overview. Web leads with web results. News leads with news articles and offers the full set of filters. For most searches, All is the right place to begin.
My search changed tabs by itself. Why?
4Search guesses from your words which tab fits best and tells you at the top of the page. Select See all results instead to go back to All.
Where did the Topics tab go on a site I use?
The Topics tab appears only on sites that have topics. Most sites do. If yours does not, browse from the home page instead.
